The Society was founded in 1984 with the aim of promoting paediatric orthopaedic surgery in the UK and is affiliated to the British Orthopaedic Association, the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS) and the Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA). The Society has representation on the Standing Liaison Committee of the British Orthopaedic Association. It provides a forum for discussion of research, advances in clinical practice, and the results of surgical procedures pertaining to the practice of children's orthopaedics and trauma.
